SO(5) Non-Fermi Liquid in a Coulomb Box Device

نویسندگان

چکیده

Non-Fermi liquid (NFL) physics can be realized in quantum dot devices where competing interactions frustrate the exact screening of spin or charge degrees freedom. We show that a standard nanodevice architecture, involving coupled to both box and metallic leads, host an exotic SO(5) symmetry Kondo effect, with entangled spin. This NFL state is surprisingly robust breaking channel symmetry, but destabilized by particle-hole asymmetry. By tuning gate voltages, evolves continuously then "flavor" two-channel state. The expected experimental conductance signatures are highlighted.

Non-Fermi-liquid manifold in a Majorana device.

We propose and study a setup realizing a stable manifold of non-Fermi-liquid states. The device consists of a mesoscopic superconducting island hosting N≥3 Majorana bound states tunnel coupled to normal leads, with a Josephson contact to a bulk superconductor. We find a nontrivial interplay between multichannel Kondo and resonant Andreev reflection processes, which results in the fixed point ma...

Non-Fermi Liquid in a Truncated Two-Dimensional Fermi Surface

Using perturbation theory and the field theoretical renormalization group approach we consider a two-dimensional anisotropic truncated Fermi Surface(FS) with both flat and curved sectors which approximately simulates the “cold” and “hot” spots in the cuprate superconductors. We calculate the one-particle two-loop irreducible functions Γ and Γ as well as the spin, the charge and pairing response...

Marginal-Fermi-liquid behavior from two-dimensional Coulomb interaction

A full, nonperturbative renormalization group analysis of interacting electrons in a graphite layer is performed, in order to investigate the deviations from Fermi-liquid theory that have been observed in the experimental measures of a linear quasiparticle decay rate in graphite. The electrons are coupled through Coulomb interactions, which remain unscreened due to the semimetallic character of...

Crossover between Fermi liquid and non-Fermi liquid behavior in the non-centrosymmetric compound Yb2Ni12P7.

A crossover from a non-Fermi liquid to a Fermi liquid phase in Yb2Ni12P7 is observed by analyzing electrical resistivity ρ(T), magnetic susceptibility χ(T), specific heat C(T), and thermoelectric power S(T) measurements. The electronic contribution to specific heat, Ce(T), behaves as Ce(T)/T∼-ln(T) for 5 K<T<15 K, which is consistent with non-Fermi liquid behavior. Below T∼4 K, the upturn in Ce...

Crossover from Fermi Liquid to Non-Fermi Liquid Behavior in a Solvable One-Dimensional Model

We consider a quantum many-body problem in one-dimension described by a Jastrow type wavefunction, characterized by an exponent λ and a parameter γ. In the limit γ = 0 the model becomes identical to the well known 1/r2 pair-potential model; γ is shown to be related to the strength of a many body correction to the 1/r2 interaction. Exact results for the one-particle density matrix are obtained f...
